How to Create Digital Signature Online

Creating a digital signature with this free online tool takes less than a minute. Open the tool in any modern browser on desktop or mobile — no registration or software installation required. A blank white canvas appears in the drawing area, ready for your signature.

Use your mouse on desktop by clicking and dragging to draw your signature strokes. On mobile or tablet, use your finger or a stylus directly on the touchscreen. The drawing is smooth and responsive, capturing each stroke as you lift and lower the pen. Adjust pen size between 1px and 8px using the slider — thinner lines look more authentic for formal signatures.

Choose your ink colour: black is standard for most exams, blue is also widely accepted, and red is available for other uses. If you make a mistake, click the Clear button to erase and start over. Once satisfied with your signature, select the exam-specific download size preset, set the target KB, choose JPG or PNG format, and click Download Signature.

Digital Signature for Exam Forms

Every major Indian exam portal requires a digital signature image as part of the application form. The signature is uploaded as a separate image file alongside the photo. Portal requirements vary slightly by exam, but most have specific pixel dimension and file size limits.

For SSC exams (CGL, CHSL, MTS, CPO): signature must be 140×60 pixels, 10–20KB, JPG format. The SSC/IBPS preset in this tool sets exactly these dimensions. For IBPS exams (PO, Clerk, SO, RRB): 140×60 pixels, 10–20KB, JPG. Same preset applies. For UPSC: 400×100 pixels, 20–300KB, JPG. Use the UPSC preset. For JEE Main and NEET: typically 200×80 pixels, 10–30KB, JPG. Use the JEE/NEET preset.

Physical signatures on paper and digital signatures drawn on screen are both acceptable for exam portal uploads. The key requirement is consistency — your digital signature should resemble your physical signature used on bank accounts, ID cards, and official documents. Portal authorities may compare the uploaded signature with the one you put on the attendance sheet at the exam centre.

Tips for Drawing Clear Signature

For the clearest signature, use a mouse on desktop rather than a trackpad. Mouse movements give more precise control, especially for curved or looping strokes. If you are using a touchscreen, a stylus produces finer lines than a fingertip. Set pen size to 2–3px for a natural, ink-pen appearance. Larger pen sizes (5–8px) look unnatural for signature images.

Draw slowly and steadily. Fast strokes can produce jagged lines due to input sampling rate. If your natural signature contains looping letters or connecting strokes, practise drawing them on the canvas a few times before the final version. You can clear and restart as many times as needed. Keep the signature within the visible canvas area — parts that overflow are clipped.

Your digital signature should match your physical signature consistently. Use the same signature you put on bank cheques, PAN card, and Aadhaar. Inconsistent signatures between the digital form submission and the physical answer sheet at the exam centre can cause complications during the document verification stage.

Signature Maker vs Scanning

Both methods produce acceptable results for exam portals. Scanning your actual signature on paper gives a more authentic look that closely matches your physical signing habit. To scan, sign on white paper with a black or blue ballpoint pen, scan at 300 DPI, crop tightly around the signature, and use our Image Compress tool to reduce to the required KB. Our Enhance tool can improve contrast to make the signature lines sharper.

Drawing on screen is faster and does not require scanner hardware. The drawn signature is immediately available at any download size and KB. For candidates without scanner access, this tool provides a convenient and fully accepted alternative. Both scanned and drawn signatures are treated equally by Indian exam portals — they check dimensions and file size, not how the signature was created.
